The  Russian Society for the Study of American Culture was formed on the basis of American Literature studies scholars  traditionally held at the Department of Journalism of Lomonosov Moscow State University since 1975,  and gradually involved researchers from all areas of American culture studies.

International conferences are held annually in December, and a collection of materials is published in Russian and English. Membership in the society is open to scholars of all countries.
